Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) has unveiled the XPedite2500,a robust XMC module that leverages the advanced Xilinx Kintex UltraScale XCKU115 FPGA. Offered in both conduction- and air-cooled variants, the XPedite2500 enhances signal processing capabilities within the XMC form factor, making it ideal for applications in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and various robotic systems.

This marks the inaugural mezzanine card from X-ES to incorporate the Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA family. These FPGAs strike an optimal balance between performance and affordability, making them suitable for next-generation embedded applications. They deliver exceptional price/performance/watt metrics at 20 nm, along with superior signal processing bandwidth for mid-range devices.

At the core of the XPedite2500 is the Kintex UltraScale XCKU115, which boasts the highest logic element density within its family. This programmable device offers extensive resources for advanced logic and signal processing, featuring over 1.4 million system logic cells, 5,520 DSP slices, and 75.9 Mb of block RAM.

The XPedite2500 supports a wide range of system integration options, functioning as a flexible XMC processing solution compatible with both VPX and VME systems. It is equipped with up to 8 GB of DDR4 SDRAM across four independent channels and offers multiple high-bandwidth I/O configurations, enabling it to efficiently handle streaming data from diverse sources. In addition to an x8 PCI Express Gen3 interface on the P15 connector, the module includes up to eight High-speed Serial ports on the P16 connector, which can be optionally set up as a second x8 PCI Express interface. Furthermore, nineteen LVDS pairs are accessible on P16, and an optional P14 connector can provide an additional 26 LVDS pairs along with 12 LVCMOS for user I/O.

To facilitate growth, the X-ES FPGA Development Kit (FDK) for Xilinx Vivado streamlines the process by offering IP blocks, HDL, test benches, Linux drivers, and comprehensive example designs tailored for the XPedite2500.
