Introducing Advanced 40 Gigabit 3U VPX Ethernet Switches by X-ES
Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) has unveiled two cutting-edge rugged 40 Gigabit 3U VPX Ethernet switches: the XChange3030 and XChange3031. These innovative switches are designed to deliver extraordinary data transmission speeds while ensuring a power-efficient architecture, making them ideal for the demanding networking requirements of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other unmanned systems.
Enhanced Data Throughput and Versatility
Focusing on optimizing data throughput, both the XChange3030 and XChange3031 offer customizable 40 Gigabit Ethernet processing capabilities, considerably boosting the performance of any integrated system. They also feature a variety of configurable 10 Gigabit and Gigabit Ethernet options, along with a front-panel optical Ethernet port, ensuring robust interaction. For specific applications, an optional XMC site is available, which can host the XChange6300 Embedded Services Router, facilitating Layer 3 routing capabilities.
Rugged Design for Harsh Environments
These fully ruggedized and configurable switch solutions are engineered to perform reliably even in extreme environmental conditions.Capable of withstanding temperatures from -40°C to +85°C, as well as enhanced resistance to vibration, shock, and humidity, X-ES embedded switches have undergone extensive testing, proving their durability for mission-critical applications. Additionally, they support both Layer 2 switching and optional Layer 3 routing, allowing for seamless networking within a unified system.
Extensive Protocol Support
As fully managed layer 2 switches, the XChange3030 and XChange3031 are compatible with a wide array of IETF RFCs and IEEE protocols, including:
- VLANs (IEEE 802.1Q)
- LACP
- Spanning Tree protocol (STP)
- Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP)
- Per-VLAN Rapid Spanning Tree (PVRST)
- Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP)
- Simple Network Management protocol (SNMP)
- Flow Control
- port Mirroring
- Port Authentication (IEEE 802.1x)
- quality of Service (QoS)
- Access Control Lists (ACL)
- Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP)
- Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP)
Moreover, they can optionally accommodate the XChange6300 Embedded Services router (ESR) for Layer 3 routing, which is X-ES’s rugged solution for Cisco IOS-XE networking, equipped with Mobile Ready Net capabilities.
Performance and Port Capabilities
Both the XChange3030 and XChange3031 provide full wire-speed switching and support jumbo frames up to 10 kB, with varying Ethernet port configurations tailored to different project requirements. Notably, the XChange3030 includes a front-panel optical Ethernet port for added flexibility.
Progress Platforms for Enhanced Support
X-ES offers two development platform options to complement the XChange3030 and XChange3031. The XPand1007 is a cost-effective system that supports up to two conduction-cooled 3U VPX cards and utilizes rear Transition Modules (RTMs) to streamline I/O access, facilitating rapid system prototyping. in contrast, the XPand1205 is a more advanced 3U VPX development platform that accommodates up to eight conduction-cooled modules, providing a comprehensive solution for extensive system development.
Integration and Configuration Options
The XChange3031 can be installed in the second slot of the XPand6240 rugged system, with the option to host the XChange6300 Embedded Services Router, thereby enabling secure communications for deployable networking applications.
Both the XChange3030 and XChange3031 can support an optional XMC site in configurations that utilize an integrated mezzanine card. This setup offers a J16 RS-232 serial port routed to P1, one 2500BASE-X Ethernet port, and two 1000BASE-X Ethernet ports from J16 when paired with the XChange6300 ESR. Additionally, the XChange3031’s XMC site can support up to two 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet ports from J14 to P2 or the switch.
