Aerobits Unveils Innovative ADS-B Receiver: AERO-rpi-HAT
Aerobits has introduced an advanced ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance—Broadcast) receiver known as the AERO-RPi-HAT, which is built on the Raspberry Pi platform. This cutting-edge device is tailored for ground stations of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), as well as for proof-of-concept initiatives in unmanned traffic management and U-space, along with applications for UAS data collection.
Key Features of the AERO-RPi-HAT
At the heart of the AERO-RPi-HAT is Aerobits’ TT-MC1a 1090MHz receiver, which captures ADS-B Out data. This includes critical data such as aircraft identification, real-time location, altitude, and speed, transmitted by drones and various aircraft. The built-in GNSS technology enables users to timestamp frames accurately, facilitating multilateration processes. The output data can be formatted in several ways, including aero ASCII protocol, raw format (with or without signal strength), Asterix, or MAVLink. Additionally, the AERO-RPi-HAT can be tailored to support custom output protocols upon request.
Enhanced Installation and Functionality
Installation outdoors is made straightforward through the use of POE (Power-over-Ethernet) technology. Furthermore, the AERO-RPi-HAT is equipped with an integrated sensor that monitors temperature and air quality, adding to its versatility and functionality.
