Revolutionizing Drone Inspections: The LINIA and Xer Technologies Partnership
The collaboration between Xer Technologies and LINIA has successfully integrated LINIA’s automated flight route software with the Xer X8 UAV platform.
This partnership represents a important advancement in the realm of automated drone inspections, especially for powerline evaluations.
By merging LINIA’s complex automation capabilities with the Xer X8’s impressive endurance and payload capacity, the efficiency and productivity of drone inspections have seen remarkable improvements. This integration allows for a considerable increase in the number of inspections conducted daily.
Unlike conventional battery-operated drones, the Xer X8’s extended flight time enables a fourfold increase in daily inspections of power towers, thereby enhancing productivity and providing superior visual data to support inspection operations.
Advantages of the LINIA and Xer Technologies Collaboration
- Efficiency: A single flight lasting 2.5 hours with the Xer X8, utilizing LINIA’s preplanned data, can capture high-resolution images of between 30 to 75 towers, depending on their dimensions.
- Cost efficiency: This partnership optimizes inspections by reducing the need for pilot repositioning, which significantly cuts down on the necessity for on-site visits by skilled personnel.
- Enhanced Asset Management: The provision of high-quality observations and thorough documentation leads to improved asset management, resulting in long-term savings for power grid operators.
- Increased Safety: Automation reduces the likelihood of drone mishandling, thereby enhancing overall flight safety.
- Quicker Power Restoration: Rapid fault detection and timely restoration of power supply minimize downtime during outages.
Lorenzo Arizzoli-Bulato, Managing Director of LINIA, remarked, “The Xer drone is a game changer. while automation has already improved inspection speed and data quality, the frequent battery changes and relocations every 20 minutes make it hard to compete with helicopter inspections. The Xer X8 excels by allowing significantly longer flights than traditional multicopter drones, all while carrying state-of-the-art camera technology. More time in the air means more power lines can be inspected. Additionally, this solution significantly reduces CO2 emissions compared to manned helicopter inspections.”
Gökmen Çetin, Sales Manager at Xer Technologies, added, “The joint solution from LINIA and Xer Technologies is set to provide unique benefits for grid operators, offering opportunities for cost savings and improved data quality. We are highly impressed with the LINIAair solution and the expertise of the team behind it.”
