VN-200 GPS-Aided Inertial Navigation System.
VectorNav Technologies, a leader in the field of embedded navigation solutions, has unveiled the VN-200, a compact and highly accurate GPS-Aided Inertial Navigation System (GPS/INS) that fits on a chip the size of a postage stamp. This innovative system integrates a sophisticated GPS module with cutting-edge MEMS inertial and pressure sensors, offering a combined solution for position, velocity, and attitude that performs reliably across various static and dynamic environments. the VN-200’s onboard microprocessor executes an aerospace-grade Kalman filter algorithm at an notable rate of up to 200 Hz, achieving accuracy levels of better than 0.25 degrees in pitch and roll, and 0.75 degrees in heading. VectorNav will showcase the VN-200 at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems international (AUVSI) North America conference, taking place from August 6-9 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las vegas, at Booth #660.
The introduction of the VN-200 GPS/INS signifies a major leap forward in inertial navigation technology. Historically, the size, weight, power consumption, and cost of conventional GPS/INS systems have restricted their applications. The emergence of MEMS sensor technology has opened the door to the advancement of smaller, more compact, and easily integrated inertial navigation systems. With the VN-200, VectorNav presents a fully embeddable, high-precision GPS/INS solution that rivals the performance of traditional systems that have long set the benchmark for inertial navigation. Featuring the lowest size, weight, and power (SWAP) specifications of any GPS/INS currently available, and priced at $900 USD for bulk orders, the VN-200 is poised to drive innovation across aerospace, automotive, marine, entertainment, military, and robotics sectors.
“The VN-200 is crafted to fulfill the requirements of clients whose applications are constrained by size or budget, yet still demand exceptional performance and precision,” stated John Brashear, President of VectorNav Technologies. “By leveraging our expertise in MEMS sensor technology, aerospace filtering techniques, and calibration methods, we have developed a robust inertial navigation solution, reaffirming our dedication to advancing MEMS-based navigation technologies.”
The VN-200 GPS/INS is ideally suited for a variety of applications, including guidance, navigation, and control of UAVs and other unmanned systems, stabilization of cameras and platforms, targeting and positioning, robotics, attitude reference, military and maritime operations, flight control and simulation, and also augmented reality applications. Production units of the VN-200 are now available for purchase.
