EIZO Rugged Solutions Unveils Advanced OpenVPX 6U High-Performance Computing Card
EIZO Rugged Solutions has introduced an innovative high-performance computing (HPC) and GPGPU processing card, the Condor XR1 Series, designed in the openvpx 6U form factor. This cutting-edge technology is built on the NVIDIA Turing architecture and offers variants that utilize either the NVIDIA RTX5000 or NVIDIA RTX3000 platforms. It is indeed particularly suited for sensor-heavy applications in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including radar, signals intelligence (SIGINT), electronic warfare (EW), and digital signal processing (DSP).
Enhanced Performance and Efficiency
The Condor XR1 is engineered too provide high-performance embedded computing (HPEC) systems, delivering multi-card capabilities that considerably reduce system size, weight, and power (swap) while enhancing computational power. When equipped with the RTX5000 (TU104) GPU, this card boasts an impressive 6150 CUDA cores, 768 Tensor cores, and 96 RT cores, achieving up to 18.98 TFLOP of floating-point 32 performance, compatible with both CUDA and OpenCL.
Flexible Configuration Options
with two NVIDIA RTX GPU options, the Condor XR1 offers adaptability for systems that are sensitive to power and thermal constraints, allowing for future upgrades. the card supports up to eight DisplayPort++ video outputs and features dedicated H.264/H.265 (HEVC) encoding and decoding engines. Each GPU can be configured independently to connect to various endpoint setups, facilitated by a PCI-e switch that enables dialogue between I/O modules and the CPU or directly with the GPUs through NVIDIA RDMA.
Robust Cooling and Compliance Standards
The Condor XR1 is available in both conduction-cooled and air-cooled designs, supporting PCI Express Gen 3.0 with configurations of 16, 8, or 4 lanes. It has been rigorously tested to meet MIL-STD-810 standards and is offered in configurations that align with OpenVPX VITA 65 or SOSA standards.
Industry Insights and Future Directions
Selwyn L. Henriques, the president and CEO of EIZO Rugged Solutions, stated: “The condor XR1 6U VPX series delivers a dual-GPU-based computing solution tailored for data-driven mission systems, addressing the dynamic requirements of ISR applications. The demand for advanced processing capabilities in HPEC applications is surging, as the need to process an increasing number of sensors at accelerated rates becomes critical. Our challenge was to create a product that fulfills all these requirements, and the Condor XR1 achieves this with low-latency GPGPU processing, AI capabilities, flexible support for high-speed external I/O, and customizable options for various design integrations using the openvpx standard.”
