Innovative Sapphire Optics for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

Meller Optics has unveiled a cutting-edge range of custom sapphire lenses and windows tailored to enhance the front surface protection of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs).

These advanced optical components are meticulously designed to endure the demanding conditions encountered by AUVs in both commercial and military settings, where they often face extreme environments and various risks.

Exceptional Durability and Clarity

The Meller Sapphire Optics for Drones boast a Mohs hardness rating of 9, making them highly resistant to abrasive elements such as dirt, sand, and chemicals. They can withstand temperatures up to 1,000 degrees celsius and pressures reaching 10,000 psi, ensuring the protection of vision systems and sensors in challenging conditions. These optics combine remarkable durability with superior clarity, available in the form of lenses, windows, and domes that offer up to 85% light transmission across UV to IR wavelengths. With specialized coatings, transmission can exceed 99%.

Custom Manufacturing to Meet Diverse Needs

Tailored to meet specific customer requirements, Meller Sapphire Optics for Drones can be produced in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from 0.25 inches to 10 inches in outer diameter. They can also be customized with different wall thicknesses and surface finishes, achieving scratch-dig specifications of 60-40, flatness maintained to 0.5 fringes of HeNe, and parallelism from 20 to 2 arc seconds, depending on the configuration. the company is ITAR Registered and compliant with DFARS/NIST standards.
