Anello Photonics has been chosen by SpaceWERX for a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) initiative centered on Resonator Laser Gyroscopes, aimed at tackling critical issues faced by the Department of the Air Force (DAF).
The Air Force Research Laboratory, in collaboration with SpaceWERX—an innovative sector of the U.S. Space Force and a distinct branch of AFWERX—has joined forces to enhance the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) processes.
This collaboration is designed to expedite the experiance for small businesses by shortening the timeline from proposal submission to award, thereby broadening the pool of potential candidates. It aims to create more opportunities for small enterprises while reducing bureaucratic hurdles through ongoing improvements in contract management.
as its inception in 2018, the DAF has been offering the Open Topic SBIR/STTR program, which has broadened the spectrum of innovations funded by the DAF. On August 16, 2024, Anello Photonics will embark on its mission to develop and deliver groundbreaking capabilities that will enhance the national defense of the United States.
Dr. Mario Paniccia, CEO of Anello Photonics, expressed, “We are excited to collaborate with the space Force and provide them with our state-of-the-art optical gyroscope technology and expertise.”
“By utilizing our extensive knowledge in integrated photonics and AI-driven solutions, we aim to bolster the Space Force’s mission to equip joint forces operating in environments where GPS is unreliable.”
