Nicomatic has unveiled its innovative product, V Shield, specifically engineered for dynamic flexing applications. This shielding solution is integrated during the manufacturing phase and offers robust protection against EMI, RFI, and ESD. Its flexible design facilitates optimal cable routing while minimizing stress on joints, making it ideal for compact environments such as unmanned systems and various robotic applications.
The standard offerings from Nicomatic include:
V Shield Flat Flex Cable: This product is available in standard pitches ranging from 1.00 mm to 2.54 mm. Flat Flex Cables (FFCs) can be directly soldered or connected using ZIF/LIF standard connectors. They can be customized in lengths from 60 mm to 2000 mm,with additional lengths available upon request.
V Shield Jumper/Extension Cable: The CrimpFlex jumper cables from Nicomatic are tailored for board-to-board connections in two industry-standard pitches: 1.27 mm and 2.54 mm. Thes cables offer superior retention compared to FFCs used with ZIF/LIF connectors, thanks to a wide selection of CrimpFlex contacts and housings designed for diverse applications. Both the 1.27 mm and 2.54 mm jumper cables can be grounded either externally or internally to any conductor.
V Shield MicroFlex: This is a shielded, flexible flat polyester cable harness equipped with a screw fixing, making it suitable for high-vibration environments. It is compatible with Nicomatic’s CMM 220 connector, which is known for its high mechanical resistance. The MicroFlex has been tested to comply with MIL-DTL-55302F standards and offers up to a 60% reduction in weight compared to customary round cables. It is available in three configurations: Female-Female, Solder Pin-Female, and Octopus, featuring multiple branches.
Testing indicates that the V Shield technology can endure up to 10 million flex cycles with a bend diameter of 63.5 mm (2.5 inches). This cutting-edge technology is designed to assist engineers in overcoming significant EMI interconnect challenges encountered during the design phase.
