Elsight,a leader in connectivity solutions for unmanned and autonomous systems,has considerably contributed to a pipeline surveillance operation conducted by Phoenix Air Unmanned (PAU).
This operation achieved a remarkable 320-mile aerial inspection of a pipeline in just 7.6 hours, utilizing a single Unmanned aircraft System (UAS) for Shell Pipeline Company (SPLC).
The success of this mission was facilitated by Elsight’s Halo, a cutting-edge interaction platform tailored for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations. This lightweight system ensures uninterrupted command and control (C2) connectivity by seamlessly integrating various IP links, including public and private cellular networks, satellite, and RF, thereby guaranteeing reliable data transmission in diverse environments.
UAVs equipped with elsight Halo are instrumental in various applications, from emergency response and security surveillance to logistics and extensive infrastructure inspections, such as PAU’s pipeline assessment. They ensure a continuous and secure flow of video,telemetry,and operational data.
for this specific mission, PAU utilized the Event 38 E455, a fixed-wing, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) UAS, to execute 16 BVLOS flights. The aircraft was outfitted with a high-resolution camera, enabling live-streamed visuals while covering 332.4 miles over 7.72 flight hours. Data was transmitted in real time to SPLC inspectors and archived for subsequent analysis.
