Advanced Bird Detection Technology Arrives at Hanseo University
DeTect, Inc. is set to deliver a MERLIN True3D Bird Detection Radar (BDR) to the Flight Education Center at Hanseo University in South Korea, with plans for installation and activation by mid-February.
Enhancing Flight Safety and Research Capabilities
This cutting-edge system will play a crucial role in enhancing flight safety during pilot training and research initiatives. It will provide real-time tracking of birds and drones, along with alerts regarding potential strike risks for air traffic controllers and airfield management teams.
Leading the Industry in Bird-Aircraft Strike Management
The MERLIN True3D radar is recognized as the leading solution for managing bird-aircraft strike risks at both commercial airports and military airfields. In June 2024, DeTect and Hanseo University formalized their partnership to implement the MERLIN system at the university’s training airstrip located in Taean.
Continuous Monitoring for Enhanced safety
Gary Andrews, CEO of DeTect, stated, “The radar will be positioned next to the runway, ensuring 24/7 access to real-time data on aircraft, bird, and drone movements, thereby bolstering flight safety.”
“The radar has a detection range of up to 11 kilometers around the airfield, providing live displays and risk alerts directly to the Air Traffic Control tower and other designated user locations.”
