During a visit to Madagascar by President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar, Slovenian UAV developer ElevonX showcased its advanced aerial delivery capabilities in a live demonstration that underscored the growing impact of UAV technology in humanitarian missions.
In the presence of Madagascar’s President Andry Nirina Rajoelina and Slovenian missionary Pedro Opeka, an ElevonX Tango Cargo UAV successfully delivered a symbolic aid package. The event, broadcast live on Madagascar’s national television, highlighted the role of Slovenian innovation in supporting life-saving logistics across some of the world’s most remote regions.
Operated by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Madagascar team, the Tango Cargo UAV carried out the delivery as part of an ongoing initiative to provide medical equipment and life-saving supplies to remote and isolated communities across the country. The event underscored how advanced Slovenian aerospace innovation is being leveraged in Africa to address real-world humanitarian needs with speed and efficiency.
ElevonX specializes in the development of vertical takeoff and landing unmanned aerial vehicles designed for civil, defense, and humanitarian missions. The company’s Tango Cargo system is engineered for autonomous, reliable operation in austere environments without reliance on conventional runways. It is optimized for deployment in regions with extreme heat, high humidity, and airborne dust, making it ideal for challenging geographies where traditional logistics fall short.
Already deployed across parts of West Africa including Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire, ElevonX platforms are now playing a vital role in Madagascar’s humanitarian supply chain. The demonstration formed part of a wider presidential visit during which President Pirc Musar also inaugurated a new primary school in the Akamasoa community, constructed with support from the Republic of Slovenia.
