SKYTRAC Systems has joined forces with AnsuR Technologies, a pioneer in software solutions for visual data interaction, to facilitate High-Definition (HD) video streaming via SKYTRAC’s Iridium Certus SATCOM terminals designed for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The integration of AnsuR’s ASMIRA software with SKYTRAC’s Iridium Certus terminals will allow for HD and 4K video streaming over the Iridium satellite network. This innovative approach substantially minimizes bandwidth usage while ensuring the delivery of high-quality video content. The technology operates entirely within SKYTRAC’s IMS-350 and SDL-350 terminals, eliminating the need for any extra hardware on the aircraft. These terminals will connect directly to the camera system to capture video feeds, which AnsuR’s software will than optimize and compress for efficient transmission over cellular or satellite networks.
Unlike customary video streaming methods that are constrained by line-of-sight or geographical limitations, SKYTRAC’s SDL-350 and IMS-350 will utilize the globally accessible Iridium NEXT constellation. This capability allows for uninterrupted video streaming to ground stations, nonetheless of the UAV’s location worldwide. AnsuR’s advanced video compression technology will adeptly manage bandwidth, ensuring operators receive superior video quality without incurring the high operational costs often associated with other satellite systems.
Jeff Sherwood, Director of business Development at SKYTRAC, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “This partnership merges top-tier Satcom connectivity with cutting-edge video compression technology into a single terminal tailored for the aviation sector. AnsuR is at the forefront of tactical video compression, and we are excited to provide our aviation clients globally with cost-effective, high-definition video streaming services.”
Dr. Harald Skinnemoen, Founder and CEO of AnsuR, remarked: “SKYTRAC’s proficiency in aviation and satellite communications is clear, as they lead the market in delivering Certus connectivity services. We are eager to collaborate on developing an integrated solution for operators seeking mission-critical visual data through the Iridium satellite network, with ASMIRA at it’s core. As a software solution specifically designed for UAVs, ASMIRA can be seamlessly integrated into devices like the SKYTRAC terminals without significantly increasing Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) requirements.”
