Introduction of AESA Radar for Drone Detection & Tracking

Unveiling the Retinar AESA: A Breakthrough in Drone Surveillance technology

Meteksan Defense is set to showcase the Retinar AESA, a cutting-edge addition to its Ground Surveillance Radars lineup, at the IDEF 2023 Exhibition from July 25-28, 2023.

Advanced Detection Capabilities

The Retinar AESA is engineered to identify and monitor a variety of aerial threats, including mini and micro UAVs, Kamikaze drones, and tactical UAVs. This versatility makes it an essential tool for modern defense operations.

Versatile Applications for Enhanced Security

Designed with efficiency in mind, the radar system boasts low power consumption, allowing it to be deployed for stationary protection of vital infrastructures and borders.Additionally, its capability to function while in motion makes it an invaluable asset for security forces during convoy and VIP protection missions.

Expert Insights on Retinar AESA

İzzet Adil BAKTIR, Vice-President of Meteksan Defence Radar Systems, highlighted the radar’s development as a response to evolving military needs. He stated, “We take pride in integrating AESA technology into the Retinar family, achieving this milestone through exceptional engineering in a short timeframe. The retinar AESA, equipped with MIMO technology, is specifically designed to detect Kamikaze UAVs, which have gained important attention recently.”

He further elaborated, “This innovative product stands out from global counterparts due to its enhanced update frequency, superior tracking capabilities, simultaneous detection of aerial and terrestrial targets, and high classification accuracy for low-speed objects. We eagerly anticipate the deployment of Retinar AESA in operational settings, contributing to the ongoing success of the Retinar family.”

Key Features of Retinar AESA

  • Next-generation active electronic scanning with MIMO architecture,
  • 90 x 90 degree coverage from a single radar panel,
  • Comprehensive hemispherical coverage (90 x 360 degrees) using four radar panels,
  • Simultaneous detection of air and ground targets over extended ranges,
  • Enhanced tracking performance through high update rates,
  • Superior target classification capabilities with sensitivity to low-speed objects,
  • 3D high-resolution radar imaging,and
  • Robust performance in adverse weather conditions due to its operational frequency.
