DTC Launches Cutting-Edge Software-Defined Radio!

Domo Tactical Communications (DTC) has launched a new software-defined radio (SDR) for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and other unmanned

Innovative Software-Defined Radio for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Domo Tactical Communications (DTC) has introduced an advanced software-defined radio (SDR) tailored for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and various unmanned systems. The SOL8SDR2x1W-P model facilitates rapid, long-distance, encrypted data transmission while maintaining a compact size, weight, and power (SWaP) profile.

Key Features of the SOL8SDR2x1W-P

This new radio is built on DTC’s MeshUltra series of tactical MANET Mesh waveforms, ensuring compatibility across all DTC devices.Utilizing the COFDM waveform, it delivers high-bandwidth dialog even in challenging, dynamic, and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions, making it suitable for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations in airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The MeshUltra waveform is designed for spectral efficiency, operating across a range of RF channel bandwidths from 1.25 MHz to 20 MHz.With adaptive modulation capabilities reaching up to 64QAM, it supports impressive data rates of up to 87 Mbps.

Advancements with MeshUltra-X

Building on the success of the MeshUltra, DTC has also unveiled the MeshUltra-X waveform, which enhances performance for extensive networks comprising up to 144 radios. This waveform operates efficiently in channels as narrow as 1.25 MHz and on a single frequency, making it especially advantageous for large drone swarms and scenarios requiring numerous radios to function effectively within a constrained spectrum.

Versatile Applications of DTC’s RF Products

DTC’s radio frequency (RF) solutions cater to a wide array of unmanned systems and mission requirements. The SOL8SDR2x1W-P, derived from DTC’s SOL8 SDR, can function as a Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) IP Mesh node, a point-to-point (P2P) COFDM transmitter, or a P2P receiver connected to a tablet PC.

All SDRs and NetNodes from DTC are capable of hosting the MeshUltra waveform, ensuring a unified mesh networking capability across all deployed radios.

Efficiency and Connectivity

With a remarkably low power consumption of approximately 10W, the SOL8SDR2x1W-P is equipped with a extensive array of interface options, including native Ethernet, dual USB ports, serial connections, and an audio headset interface, enhancing its versatility for various applications.
