Revolutionary Ultra-High Resolution 3D Imaging System Unveiled!

Hydro-Tech's new product, the MS8240, is an ultra-high resolution adjustable 3D Multibeam Echo Sounder imaging system ranging from single frequency to multi-frequency

Next-Gen 3D Imaging Technology unveiled

Hydro-Tech Introduces the MS8240: A Revolutionary Multibeam Echo Sounder

Hydro-Tech has unveiled the MS8240, an advanced Multibeam Echo Sounder that operates across a frequency range of 150 kHz to 450 kHz, with adjustable increments of 10 Hz.

This innovative system can also function at higher frequencies of 500 kHz and 600 kHz, with an optional setting for 700 kHz. The MS8240 is designed to transform the traditional single-frequency multibeam approach by offering a more versatile frequency range, facilitating ultra-high resolution imaging and precise target detection at 500, 600, or 700 kHz, while maintaining an extensive depth sounding capability at 150 kHz.

Field Testing and Performance Comparison

To showcase the capabilities of the MS8240, Hydro-Tech conducted a series of sea trials, comparing its performance against a leading competitor, referred to as “RX” for confidentiality.

The trials took place in a river setting near a bridge, where the water depth varied between 8 to 13 meters.

The company utilized its cutting-edge survey and data acquisition software, which provides real-time visualization of the 3D point cloud.

The results displayed the performance at 400 kHz on the left and at 600 kHz on the right.

In this comparison, the output from Hydro-Tech is shown on the left, while the RX results are displayed on the right.

When viewed from above, the MS8240 clearly delineates the foot edge of the bridge pier.

Even with the angle of the bridge column relative to the foundation, the MS8240 captures the precise shape with remarkable clarity.

In contrast, the RX results show a slight curvature at the right angle, with the edges of the foundation appearing somewhat indistinct. While the overall output is satisfactory due to the even distribution of points across the flat riverbed, it lacks the precision of the MS8240.

Hydro-Tech takes pride in the MS8240’s ability to accurately depict the corners of underwater structures and capture intricate details in small target detection. This achievement is attributed to the company’s commitment to non-smoothing processing techniques, which, while challenging, yield more authentic survey data.

Final Thoughts

The MS8240 boasts specifications that are on par with the leading multibeam systems, including swath sector, maximum ping rate, maximum sounding depth, and bathymetric performance.

Its broader frequency range opens up a multitude of potential applications for the future.

With ultra-high resolution and pristine data quality, the MS8240 matches the performance of top-tier multibeam systems in capturing fine target features.

Additionally, it offers lower power consumption, a more compact deck unit, and simplified installation across various platforms.
