Dronetag Unveils Advanced Remote ID Module for Drone Enthusiasts
Dronetag has introduced the second iteration of its Remote ID broadcast module, known as the Basic Solution (BS), which weighs a mere 0.035 oz (1 gram).
Despite its compact design, the BS is equipped with advanced technology that provides invaluable features for hobbyists operating FPV and RC models.
Streamlined Features for Pilots
The BS module simplifies the flying experience for pilots through a unique combination of features: seamless integration with Spectrum receivers and Betaflight flight controllers, real-time flight logs stored in the module’s internal flash memory, and synchronization with the Dronetag mobile app. This app allows users to view, export, and visualize flight data by uploading KML map data to platforms like Google Earth or cloud services.
Innovative Enhancements in the second Generation
Informed by market research and community feedback, Dronetag has developed the new BS, which comes with a extensive accessory package. Key updates in the second-generation BS include:
- NEW ENCLOSURE DESIGN: The updated enclosure features a dedicated battery slot, enhancing protection and aesthetics while making it easier to attach the module to various aircraft. Additionally,a version without a battery slot is available for those who prefer to power the module from an external source up to 17V.
- INCLUDED ANTENNAS: The package now comes with ultra-compact Bluetooth and GNSS wire antennas.
- REDUCED INTERFERENCE: The integration of SAW filters enhances the BS’s immunity to radio interference, significantly improving GNSS performance, stability, and accuracy. This upgrade addresses concerns raised by FPV pilots using high-power transmitters.
- OPTIMIZED LED POSITION: The LED indicator is now located on the top side of the circuit board for easier visibility, allowing pilots to quickly check the device’s readiness.
- ENHANCED MOUNTING OPTIONS: A new M1.6 threaded column has been added to facilitate the attachment of the plastic enclosure to the circuit board, also allowing for various DIY mounting solutions.
- SOLDER-READY DESIGN: For pilots who prefer custom wiring, the new BS features solder pads on the underside of the circuit board.
- DUAL FUNCTIONALITY: The BS now supports both Spektrum XBUS and SRXL2,enabling it to provide telemetry data to Betaflight or similar flight controllers while functioning as a GPS module and broadcasting Remote ID data together.
- UNIVERSAL BATTERY CHARGER: Responding to user feedback, the new BS includes a dedicated USB-C battery charger.
- VARIOUS POWER OPTIONS: The Dronetag BS can be powered by the included battery, the drone’s battery, or any other 5V power source.
Flight Logging and GPS Integration
The BS module transforms into a dual-purpose positioning and Remote ID transmitter, conserving valuable payload capacity for pilots. Those using Spektrum receivers will benefit from enhanced compatibility, as the Dronetag BS can relay live GPS data through XBUS and SRXL2, functioning as a GPS module. By connecting the Dronetag BS to a Spektrum telemetry receiver, pilots can access real-time data on location, speed, and altitude.

Enhanced flight Data Management
Improvements have also been made in log and flight data management. The new BS allows for the storage of flight logs in its internal flash memory, which can be uploaded via Bluetooth to the Dronetag App for post-flight management. This application is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
FAA-Approved Remote ID Solution
The Dronetag BS, a leading remote ID solution, was developed in response to the frustrations of American drone pilots regarding FAA regulations mandating Remote ID for small or custom-built RC models and FPV drones.
This module is compatible with any aircraft, ensuring full Remote ID compliance in the USA, Europe, and other regions were similar regulations are being implemented.
Exclusive Offer for Drone Pilots
Dronetag is currently offering the BS module as part of a standalone Combo package, which includes the enclosure, battery, charger, and antennas, all for a limited-time price of $99. This package is in stock and ready for shipment ahead of the FAA deadline on March 16, 2024.

Lukas Brchl, the founder and CEO of Dronetag, stated, “Our goal has always extended beyond mere compliance. During the development of the second-generation BS, we actively sought the insights and preferences of drone enthusiasts and hobbyists globally.
“We engaged in discussions on forums, monitored social media, and gathered valuable feedback to understand the true needs of the drone community. This knowledge was than transformed into a hardware solution that pushes the technological limits of the Remote ID market.”
