Textron Systems took part in Team RIPSAW earlier this year, delivering two RIPSAW M3 prototype vehicles to the US Army for the competitive Robotic Combat Vehicle program


Delivery of Advanced Robotic Combat Vehicle

innovative Robotic Combat Vehicles Delivered to U.S. Army

The collaboration known as team RIPSAW, which includes Textron Systems, its subsidiary Howe & Howe, and Teledyne FLIR Defense, has successfully delivered two prototype RIPSAW® M3 vehicles to the U.S.Army this year.

Purpose of the Delivery

This delivery is part of the competitive Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) Phase I: Platform prototype initiative, with the vehicles arriving at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.

Design and Functionality of the RIPSAW M3

The RIPSAW M3 is built on a modular open systems architecture (MOSA) framework,featuring a versatile chassis that accommodates various interchangeable payloads,starting from a basic flat-top deck. This robust RCV platform is engineered to fulfill Army specifications while ensuring both transportability and operational flexibility.

Investment and Growth History

Since its inception in 2019 with the introduction of the RIPSAW M5 system, Team RIPSAW has committed significant resources to the development of this family of robotic vehicles.Subsequent models, such as the M5-E (electric variant) and the M3 Tech demonstrator, have benefited from extensive collaboration with industry partners, academic institutions, and the U.S. Army.

Performance and Testing Achievements

These advancements have enabled the RIPSAW vehicles to undertake a wide range of missions across diverse environmental conditions. To date, the RIPSAW family has completed over 4,700 miles of rigorous durability testing as 2019.
