IMSAR Unveils Advanced Radar System for Unmanned aircraft

IMSAR has revealed that its NSP-5 Synthetic aperture Radar (SAR) system has been tailored for integration with unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and is now in production as part of a Mission Kit for the RQ-21A blackjack Program utilized by the United States Marine Corps. This innovative payload project, dubbed “Split Aces,” serves as a Synthetic Aperture/Ground Moving Target Indicator Radar Payload and has been assigned the prototype designation AN/DPY-2.

The NSP-5 leverages proven Ku-band NanoSAR technology, encapsulated within a pod featuring electronically scanned array antennas. This system is designed to deliver high-resolution SAR imagery, facilitate coherent change detection, and provide ground moving target indication capabilities.

Ryan Smith, the President and CEO of IMSAR, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “IMSAR is thrilled to contribute a truly tactical, high-performance radar solution that enables comprehensive multi-intelligence for expeditionary platforms at such a pivotal moment for national defence.”

despite its compact dimensions, the NSP-5 boasts impressive performance capabilities. In its standard pod configuration, it measures 5.4 inches (13.7 cm) in diameter and 45.3 inches (115 cm) in length, weighs 16 pounds (7.3 kg), and operates with a power consumption of 150 watts, making it an efficient choice for military applications.
