High-Energy & High-Power Density Lithium Battery Solutions for UAVs & Robotics

BEI batteries can extend drone flight times by over 70% while maintaining reliable operation under extreme temperatures

BEI Corp, a developer of ultra-lightweight battery solutions based on an innovative lithium metal technology that delivers both high energy and high power density, is a trusted and valued supplier partner on Unmanned Systems Technology.

As a continued partner, UST is proud to spotlight the company’s unique solutions and capabilities across our channels via the BEI Corp supplier profile, which has been written and built by our team in collaboration with the company. The Gold profile showcases their battery technology and products, which provide UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and robotic vehicles with safer, greener and more efficient power sources, setting a new standard for performance and durability.

Read on to find out more:

BEI’s unique anode-free design, based on cutting-edge materials science, maintains the high performance of lithium metal technology while significantly reducing lithium usage. The result is the first solution of its kind to deliver high energy density as well as power density, with no need to compromise on either.

The technology also utilizes an ultra-thin protective coating layer that does away with the safety and poor cycle life issues experienced by traditional lithium-ion battery solutions. BEI products are up to 40% smaller and 46% lighter than conventional Li-Po batteries, while offering an extended operating temperature range of -35 to +73oC for the utmost in reliability in any environment.

BEI’s battery technology is a game-changer for both commercial and military drones, boosting performance not only by delivering more energy but also by cutting down on the space and weight required. By significantly enhancing flight times and payload capacities, and breaking through the bottleneck caused by conventional batteries, BEI batteries unlock a broad range of potential opportunities and missions for drone OEMs and operators alike.

The company’s advanced lithium-metal batteries are also ideal for enhancing the combat effectiveness of loitering munitions, providing a robust solution that addresses the limitations of current battery technologies. Offering industry-leading energy density in a lightweight and compact package, BEI products ensure superior range and flight time, and support more agile and rapid maneuvers.

With excellent power output in extreme cold, and the ability to be charged, transported and stored at high temperatures without performance degradation, BEI batteries enable mission-critical platforms to operate anywhere in the world, from the Arctic to the desert.
