Elevating Security: Tethered UAVs in Anti-Terror Drill Monitoring

Elistair has released a video showing the deployment of its Orion tethered UAS (unmanned aerial system) during an anti-terror drill

Elistair has unveiled a video showcasing the deployment of its Orion tethered unmanned aerial system (UAS) during a counter-terrorism exercise held in France.This drill was part of an inter-ministerial CBRN-E (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives) training initiative, simulating a scenario where chemical agents were released in a public area.

the Orion tethered drone played a crucial role in maintaining continuous surveillance over the affected region, facilitating the coordination of numerous emergency personnel and enhancing situational awareness prior to the entry of first responders into the hazardous zone. The exercise involved over 200 participants from various sectors, including health, rescue, defense, and security, alongside an additional 130 individuals acting as victims.

One of the standout features of the Orion is its rapid deployment capability, taking only a few minutes to become operational. It draws unlimited power from its ground station, eliminating the dependency on batteries. The drone is equipped with a micro-tether system, advanced GNSS positioning, and an autopilot feature, ensuring it remains within designated flight zones. Capable of ascending to 80 meters, the Orion can remain airborne for up to 10 hours. It is indeed also outfitted with cutting-edge gimbal-stabilized electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors, allowing for effective operation both day and night.
