Cambridge Pixel Enhances Offshore Monitoring with Advanced Tracking Systems

Cambridge Pixel has partnered with Elcome (India) to provide radar tracking, recording, and display technology in support of offshore oil and gas platform security for Reliance Industries.

The integrated solution provides a multi-sensor security capability, leveraging Cambridge Pixel’s SPx Server to process radar returns and generate high-quality track information. SPx Fusion further enhances situational awareness by combining track detections from two independent radars with AIS reports, forming a consolidated threat feed.

The unified data is displayed in Cambridge Pixel’s RadarWatch application, where operators can monitor vessel movements over an electronic chart underlay. RadarWatch enables automatic alarms based on flexible, user-defined rules. Cameras can be automatically steered to track targets, allowing security personnel to respond promptly. To support multi-operator environments, multicast data is used over a standard network infrastructure, enabling each user to independently select their preferred view of tracks and sensor data.

Cambridge Pixel’s RDR Data Recorder application is included to support comprehensive capturing of radar video, track data, and camera video into multi-channel timestamped recordings. With built-in archiving, automatic deletion, and full replay capabilities, it provides a robust analysis tool for post-event review and investigation.

To support the required level of availability, SPx Server and SPx Fusion support failover operation. Secondary instances run on a separate processor in hot standby, designed to automatically assume operations in the event of an application failure.

Vivek Kamath, Project Manager at Elcome, commented, “We selected Cambridge Pixel’s solutions for this project as they provided the high levels of flexibility and reliability demanded by our customer. Our expert engineers also benefit from access to Cambridge Pixel’s exceptional support.”

Andrew Haylett, Principal Engineer at Cambridge Pixel, added, “We are pleased to support Elcome (India) with our radar processing and display technology. This deployment underscores the capability of our modular software solutions to deliver critical security enhancements for offshore operations.”
