Embention Secures APDOA Approval for Cutting-Edge Certified UAV Autopilot Systems!

Embention has gained the EASA’s approval with an APDOA (Alternative Procedures to Design Organization Approval) certification, authorizing the design and in-house production of drone autopilot systems

Embention has achieved APDOA (Alternative Procedures to Design Institution Approval) certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), marking a notable step forward in the standardization and technological advancement of autonomous flight systems.

This certification empowers Embention to engineer certified aeronautical components in accordance with ETSO (European Technical Standard Order) standards, fulfilling the highest technical criteria in civil aviation with aviation-grade systems that were traditionally exclusive to manned aircraft.

The certification pertains to the ETSO-C198 standard, which focuses on the design of the AFGCS (Automatic Flight Guidance and Control System), applicable to essential systems utilized in manned aviation.

With this APDOA designation, Embention is now authorized to create products that adhere to stringent airworthiness standards specified in Part 21 of Regulation (EU) 748/2012, the principal regulatory framework governing aviation safety and certification in Europe.

Embention proudly asserts that it is indeed the first company specializing in drone autopilots under EASA supervision to secure ETSO authorizations for autopilot systems (ETSO-C198).

In a notable achievement, Embention has concurrently received POA (Production Organization Approval) certification from the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA). This dual certification allows Embention to design and manufacture its certified autopilots entirely in-house,eliminating the need for third-party involvement.

The synergy of these approvals guarantees thorough oversight from design through to production, thereby enhancing product quality, reliability, and traceability. This level of technical and production independence positions Embention as a leader in the development of certified critical systems for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and manned eVTOLs.

The APDOA and POA certifications underscore Embention’s dedication to safety and innovation, reinforcing its position as a frontrunner in the creation of critical systems for both unmanned and manned vehicles.
