Volz DA-15 Servo
Volz Servos has entered into a partnership with AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems to provide servos for their Aerosonde Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS) considering recent contract acquisitions. The DA-15 servos from Volz are integral to the Aerosonde SUAS, facilitating the operation of the aircraft’s flight control surfaces and engine throttle. This micro actuator, measuring 15mm (0.59 inches) in width, features a saltwater-resistant CNC-machined aluminum casing that adheres to IP67 standards for protection against water and dust, and also EMI/RFI shielding, and is equipped with hardened steel gears.
established in 1983, Volz specializes in the design and manufacturing of servos in Offenbach, Germany, located near Frankfurt. Their servos are currently employed in various UAV and industrial applications, fulfilling performance, reliability, and durability standards that standard remote control (RC) aircraft servos cannot achieve.
The actuator offerings from volz are continuously advancing to cater to the most rigorous actuator demands. “The aerosonde SUAS from AAI is packed with features and capabilities that position it as a leader in its class, as evidenced by the recent contracts secured with the US Department of Defense,” stated Phillipp Volz, CEO of Volz. “We are thrilled that AAI has chosen our servos for this cutting-edge UAV and are eager to contribute to AAI’s growth in their expanding SUAS sector.”
