Nokia has broadened its Drones-as-a-Service initiative by collaborating with private wireless partners, enhancing the advantages of Nokia Drone Networks for various industries across North America. This expansion enables businesses and service providers to swiftly harness the potential of drone technology.
These drones not only fulfill specific business requirements but also introduce innovative use cases and additional revenue opportunities. Companies can either invest in Nokia’s industrial-grade drone-in-a-box solution or opt for leasing, sharing, or hiring drones for occasional or routine flights, thereby reducing initial capital expenditures.
This approach substantially lowers ownership costs, making industrial drones accessible to a wider range of enterprises and service providers.
Nokia,in collaboration with its partner programme members, will provide comprehensive service packages tailored to enterprise needs, wich include drone maintenance and data analytics management. The companies will also handle flight scheduling and liaise with relevant spectrum and airspace regulators to secure necessary approvals.
DXC Technology, a key partner of Nokia in the private wireless sector, will collaborate with regulators and the broader industry to ensure safe and innovative drone operations.
With robust public and private 4G/LTE and 5G connectivity, the Nokia Drone Networks (NDN) will facilitate safe, reliable operations beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). This deployment, in conjunction with Nokia Digital Automation Cloud’s private wireless-as-a-service, promises a swift return on investment. The solution features a rugged docking station that also serves as a recharging hub for remote or scheduled flights.
Consequently, enterprises can leverage this solution to enhance capabilities and efficiencies in areas such as surveillance, remote facility management, inspections in hazardous environments, environmental monitoring, stockpile assessments at mining sites, and public safety operations like search and rescue.
Organizations that choose to lease or implement Nokia Drone Networks will gain access to a comprehensive solution that has received certification from the Federal communications Commission (FCC) for operations in North America.
Stephan Litjens, Vice president of Enterprise Campus Edge Solutions at Nokia, remarked, “We are excited to utilize our established private wireless partnerships, including our collaboration with DXC Technology, to introduce Drones-as-a-Service to the North American market. This initiative allows us to provide our cutting-edge solution tailored to the intricate needs of various enterprises and industries.By working closely with partners across all regions, we will ensure a strong collaboration with spectrum and airspace regulators to balance innovation with safety for our customers’ flights.”
The DXC team recently visited Nokia in Espoo to observe drone applications firsthand. They expressed, “We aim for our customers to book drone flights as effortlessly as requesting a ride-share. Enterprises will enjoy a streamlined experience, utilizing a complete FCC-certified drone-in-a-box solution from a single vendor, alleviating the complexities of flight approvals as we coordinate with the relevant authorities. They can adopt drones in a manner that aligns with their business needs. those who implement the drone-in-a-box solution alongside Nokia DAC private wireless will unlock the most important capabilities, ensuring the fastest return on investment.”
