Ophir’s continuous zoom lenses enable longer detection, recognition and identification ranges for advanced thermal imaging applications such as counter UAV systems

Ophir-SupIR

Introducing the Ophir SupIR Lens Series

MKS Instruments, Inc. has unveiled its latest innovation: the Ophir SupIR series, which includes three advanced MWIR lenses—30-385mm, 50-700mm, and 80-1200mm—specifically engineered for 15µm pitch VGA Focal Plane Array (FPA) cooled Medium-Wave Infrared (MWIR) detectors.

Enhanced Detection Capabilities

These cutting-edge lenses significantly extend detection, recognition, and identification ranges, with the SupIR 80-1200mm lens achieving impressive distances of over 26 kilometers. This remarkable performance, combined with reliability and cost-effectiveness, positions these lenses as ideal solutions for rigorous surveillance and observation needs in both defense and commercial sectors.

Robust Design for Challenging Environments

The Ophir SupIR lenses are built to endure extreme conditions, featuring an operational temperature range from -32˚C to +70˚C. They are equipped with Ophir’s renowned abrasion-resistant, anti-reflective coatings, IP 67 sealing, and a mechanical structure designed to withstand intense shock and vibration.

Seamless Integration and Operation

Designed for straightforward mechanical integration, these lenses come with Ophir’s standard software, facilitating optimal integration, calibration, and field deployment.

Meeting Market Demands

According to Kobi Lasri, General Manager of the Ophir Optics Group, “The MWIR f/5.5 VGA 15µm lens family meets the growing demands for extended range, high performance, and reliability while considering cost in both defense and commercial applications. The SupIR 80-1200mm lens, in particular, offers an exceptional +26km detection range, making it perfect for advanced long-range thermal imaging tasks, including counter UAV systems and extensive surveillance operations.”

Specifications of the SupIR Lens Family

The Ophir SupIR 30-385mm f/5.5 lens boasts a Horizontal Field of View (H-FOV) ranging from 0.7° to 18.6° with a detection range surpassing 17 kilometers. The SupIR 50-700mm f/5.5 lens features an H-FOV of 0.4°-11.4° and a detection range exceeding 22 kilometers, while the SupIR 80-1200mm f/5.5 lens offers an H-FOV of 0.5° to 7.1° with a detection range exceeding 26 kilometers.
