Nearthlab, an AI-driven drone company, has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Red Cat Holdings, a U.S.-based drone technology firm, establishing the company as an official member of Red Cat’s Futures Initiative (RFI).

Launched in May 2024, RFI brings together key players in AI, swarm technologies, command and control, and payload systems to accelerate innovation. The initiative also supports the Pentagon’s Replicator program, which aims to rapidly deploy autonomous, attritable systems across multiple domains.

Jay Choi, CEO of Nearthlab, said, “Partnering with Red Cat, a drone company recognized for its leadership in defense innovation, provides Nearthlab with a significant opportunity to contribute to the advancement of autonomous drone technologies. We’re committed to leveraging our AI expertise to support the objectives of the RFI and the broader defense community.”

Jason Gunter, Vice President of Technology and Innovation at Red Cat, added, “Nearthlab has an impressive track record in AI-based autonomous flight and is the exact type of company we’re looking to collaborate with to drive innovation forward. We see significant potential with this partnership to expand Red Cat’s network of industry partners with the goal of getting the most powerful and flexible drone solutions into the hands of warfighters globally.”

By joining RFI, Nearthlab will partner with Red Cat to explore opportunities for integrating their technologies to meet the evolving demands of defense and security applications. This collaboration also provides Nearthlab with a strategic pathway into the U.S. defense market, expanding its influence and contributing to the development of emerging security strategies among allied nations.
