Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. company, has unveiled the TSUNAMI series of autonomous maritime surface vessels.

Crafted to address the requirements of the U.S. Department of Defense and allied forces, this adaptable fleet of multi-mission uncrewed surface vehicles is designed for seamless integration across naval operations. Offering a cost-effective, rapidly deployable solution, the TSUNAMI line leverages Textron Systems’ extensive experience of over four decades in multi-domain autonomous vehicles alongside the advanced manufacturing expertise of the U.S. commercial shipbuilding sector.

Powered by gasoline to ensure logistical simplicity, cost-efficiency, and straightforward maintenance, the TSUNAMI vessels feature a payload capacity of 1,000 pounds (453.6 kilograms). Current models include 24-, 25-, and 28-foot hulls, which are already in large-scale production. These vessels are capable of operating in Sea State 4 conditions, with ranges spanning from 600 to over 1,000 nautical miles. The platform also supports scalability to accommodate new vessel sizes and configurations, enabling expanded production capabilities.

The TSUNAMI vessels also feature standard equipment including EO/IR camera, maritime radar, and LOS/BLOS communications, Unmanned Maritime Autonomy Architecture (UMAA) compatibility, and a proven autonomy system based on DoD programs.

David Phillips, Senior Vice President of Air, Land, and Sea Systems, commented, “Textron Systems understands how to design, integrate, field and support autonomous systems across the air, land and sea domains, because we are unique in having done that.

“Combining this expertise with the capability, demonstrated capacity, and affordability of Brunswick’s commercial shipbuilding know-how allows us to provide our DoD and allied customers with powerful maritime force strength at speed and at scale.”
