VectorNav Technologies has announced the expansion of its tactical series of GNSS-aided Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) with the introduction of two innovative products: the VN-210-S and VN-310-S. Thes advanced units are perfectly suited for a variety of applications in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and robotics.
The VN-210-S GNSS/INS integrates VectorNav’s tactical-grade Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which includes a 3-axis gyroscope, accelerometer, and magnetometer, with a cutting-edge triple-frequency GNSS receiver. This 448-channel GNSS receiver, developed by Septentrio, introduces several enhanced features, such as L5 frequency support, Moving Baseline RTK for centimeter-level precision, and OSNMA message authentication for added security. these advancements significantly enhance positioning accuracy, notably in environments with high radio frequency interference or limited GNSS availability.
On the othre hand, the VN-310-S Dual GNSS/INS utilizes VectorNav’s tactical-grade IMU and incorporates two 448-channel GNSS receivers. This configuration allows for GNSS-compassing, which provides precise heading estimations during stationary and low-dynamic operations. The VN-310-S also supports OSNMA message authentication and robust interference mitigation, ensuring dependable position data across diverse applications and settings.
Both the VN-210-S and VN-310-S are housed in a precision-engineered, anodized aluminum casing that meets military specifications and boasts an IP68 rating. For applications requiring ultra-low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP), VectorNav has enhanced the VN-210E (Embedded) model with L5 capabilities when paired with an externally integrated L5-band GNSS receiver.
Key features of the VectorNav VN-210-S include:
- Heading accuracy of 0.05-0.1°; pitch and roll accuracy of 0.015°
- Horizontal position accuracy of 0.6 m and vertical accuracy of 0.8 m
- RTK positioning accuracy of 1 cm
- Gyro in-run bias of less than 1°/hr; accelerometer in-run bias of less than 10 μg
- Tri-band GNSS receiver with 448 channels
- High update rates of 800 Hz for IMU and 400 Hz for navigation
