EMCORE Corporation Secures Major Contract with Raytheon for Fiber Optic gyroscopes
EMCORE Corporation, a leading provider of Mixed-Signal Optics solutions for communication and defense applications, has successfully secured a critically important long-term contract exceeding $18 million over four years. This agreement entails the supply of advanced Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) modules to Raytheon, specifically designed for airborne optical targeting systems. To date, EMCORE has delivered more than 1,000 units of its custom-engineered, closed-loop, single-axis FOGs to Raytheon, with plans to ship additional units throughout this year and the duration of the contract.
Advanced FOG Modules for Diverse Applications
The FOG modules being supplied are EMCORE’s tethered gyroscopes, which feature distinct electronics and sensor components to support a wide range of installation configurations. These gyroscopes are engineered to meet stringent performance criteria, making them ideal for stabilizing camera systems utilized in optical targeting across various platforms, including aircraft, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and artillery systems.
Commitment to Innovation and Quality
“Our recent innovations in integrated FOG optics and electronics have enabled EMCORE to meet the rigorous cost and performance benchmarks set by our key clients,” stated david Faulkner, Vice President and General Manager of Aerospace & Defense at EMCORE.“We are thrilled to have been awarded this contract by Raytheon, allowing us to provide our latest generation of high-performance fogs for their critical programs,” Mr. Faulkner added.
Looking Ahead
This contract not onyl underscores EMCORE’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology but also highlights the growing demand for reliable optical targeting systems in defense applications. As the industry evolves, EMCORE is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing the capabilities of military and aerospace technologies.
