Nicomatic has unveiled its latest Matr’YX connector series, engineered for demanding environments in defense, aerospace, and high-performance embedded systems.
This innovative Matr’YX series combines miniaturization, reliability, and exceptional performance into a single compact solution. It supports data transmission rates of up to 25 Gbps (PAM-4), featuring low contact resistance of less than 10 mΩ and high insulation resistance of at least 1 GΩ. These impressive specifications are achieved through the use of high-quality materials, including a high-temperature LCP insulator and optimized contact designs.
With a dense Ball Grid Array (BGA) configuration, the Matr’YX series can accommodate as many as 301 contacts on a 1 mm pitch grid, all while maintaining a compact footprint. Even under extreme operating conditions, these connectors ensure stable and interference-free data transmission.
Engineered for Durability: Tested for Extreme Conditions
The Matr’YX series meets rigorous military specifications and undergoes extensive testing for durability:
- Vibration resistance: 30 gRMS across a frequency range of 5 to 2000 Hz
- Extreme temperature cycling: from -40 °C to +100 °C
- Resistance to humidity and thermal shock
- mechanical endurance: capable of withstanding 100 mating/unmating cycles
Maximizing Space Efficiency for Board-to-Board Connections
Offering modular stacking heights ranging from 5.5 mm to 14.5 mm, the Matr’YX series provides flexible options for compact, high-density designs. Its nominal contact wipe of 1.15 mm ensures a robust connection that can endure notable vibrations.
In a recent submission, a single Matr’YX connector successfully replaced two conventional connectors, resulting in a 15% reduction in footprint and streamlining the assembly process.
Matr’YX Overview:
- High density: exceeding 70 contacts per cm²
- Up to 301 contacts in a standard footprint
- Data speeds reaching 25 Gbps (PAM-4)
- configurable stack heights: from 5.5 to 14.5 mm
- Reliable performance in harsh environmental conditions
- Compliant with REACH and RoHS regulations
- Compatible with underfill processes for enhanced requirements
- ITAR-compliant
“We require connections between multiple boards in a confined space, with stringent demands for durability and speed. Most available solutions are either too bulky or do not meet our expectations.” This feedback from a customer highlights a prevalent engineering challenge that the Matr’YX series aims to resolve.
