Kraken Robotics Secures $11 Million in SeaPower Battery Orders for UUVs
Kraken Robotics inc. has announced a significant achievement, securing $11 million in new orders for its innovative SeaPower™ batteries, specifically designed for uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs).
Advanced Battery Technology for Extreme Conditions
The SeaPower batteries are uniquely crafted to endure the harsh conditions of deep-sea environments, eliminating the need for conventional pressure housings or oil compensation. Each battery is enveloped in a specialized silicon polymer matrix that provides exceptional resistance to compression, allowing it to withstand pressures of up to 660 Bar, which corresponds to depths of 6,000 meters.
Enhancing UUV Capabilities
with their high energy density and dependable performance, SeaPower batteries empower UUVs to conduct prolonged and intricate missions. These recent orders have propelled Kraken’s total new battery orders for the year to an impressive $45 million, primarily fueled by demand from the defense sector.
Future Growth and Innovations
Kraken is strategically positioned for further growth in the subsea power market. The company is set to launch a new battery manufacturing facility in Nova Scotia, which will significantly increase its production capacity by more than threefold. Furthermore, Kraken is in the process of developing new battery configurations tailored for small and medium-sized UUVs, with an anticipated launch in late 2025.
