Greensea Systems Inc., a trailblazer in ocean robotics, has rebranded itself as Greensea IQ, a strategic initiative that consolidates its previous subsidiaries, Bayonet Ocean Vehicles and Armach Robotics, into a unified business entity.

This reorganization positions Greensea IQ as a frontrunner in leveraging uncrewed and autonomous technologies to enhance humanity’s engagement with and comprehension of oceanic environments.
According to CEO Ben Kinnaman, the motivation behind this transformation is clear: “The three divisions of Greensea IQ collectively represent the core mission of optimizing ocean robotics capabilities. This enables us to delve deeper into the oceans, improving both reach and endurance while prioritizing efficiency, safety, and productivity.” This shared vision is fundamental to Greensea IQ’s new identity and serves as the unifying principle that connects its various components in a collaborative effort toward oceanic progress.
The restructuring not only emphasizes Greensea IQ’s dedication to innovation but also reflects its goal of aligning business growth with ecological sustainability.
OPENSEA Framework
At the heart of Greensea IQ’s operations lies OPENSEA, a hardware-agnostic open framework designed for the progress and implementation of advanced robotic technologies. This framework serves as a vital link among all of the company’s initiatives, providing essential interfaces and utilities crucial to the robotics and unmanned systems sectors in which Greensea IQ is deeply involved.
The OPENSEA library is extensive and has evolved into a suite of applications that are distributed and autonomous. Thes applications work synergistically as foundational elements, seamlessly interacting within the OPENSEA ecosystem. Their combined functionalities create a scalable, flexible, and modular system.
Greensea IQ’s previous strategic investments in established subsea hardware technology firms led to the establishment of Armach Robotics in 2021 and Bayonet Ocean Vehicles in 2022.
Bayonet Ocean Vehicles

The Bayonet series of Autonomous Underwater Ground Vehicles (AUGVs) utilize the OPENSEA framework to navigate, identify objects, and process data with optimal efficiency, adding a distinctive platform to Greensea IQ’s product lineup. Designed to excel in surf zones, these AUGVs can accommodate a variety of environmental, oceanographic, hydrographic, benthic, and industry-specific sensors, making them suitable for numerous commercial and military applications.
Armach Robotics
Armach Robotics has introduced EverClean, an innovative and autonomous in-water cleaning solution that ensures ship hulls remain clean for shipowners. Now part of Greensea IQ, this ‘Robot as a service’ offering guarantees that vessels operate at peak efficiency by maintaining clean hulls.

Kinnaman likens the EverClean method to dental hygiene: “We don’t wait for dental issues to arise before we start brushing our teeth. The compact EverClean robots facilitate a routine of regular preventative hull cleaning.” Thanks to the OPENSEA framework, the EverClean robots are equipped with various tools to determine the most efficient cleaning routes, thereby minimizing wear and preserving coatings. Additionally, after each cleaning session, a detailed georeferenced survey of the hull’s condition is provided.
Transforming the Maritime Sector
Greensea IQ’s groundbreaking technologies are set to transform maritime industries worldwide. For example, EverClean provides autonomous hull cleaning services that enhance vessel performance, improve fuel efficiency, and lower carbon emissions. Following a successful commercialization phase, EverClean has demonstrated the economic feasibility of its technology, with plans to expand its services to various ship types in the near future.
Moreover, Greensea IQ’s innovations in defense and environmental sectors are gaining momentum. the EOD Workspace software platform offers autonomous mine detection and classification capabilities, substantially reducing risks to personnel in perilous environments. Additionally, the company’s robotic technologies are being utilized in offshore renewable energy projects, conducting surveys for pre-construction activities and beach landings, where customary methods often fall short.
This restructuring also positions the company for strategic growth, enabling it to better serve clients globally, with potential expansions into Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia. This will facilitate the establishment of closer service depots for robot deployments and enhance customer support.
To publicly unveil this transformative change, Greensea IQ will present its new identity and showcase its combined capabilities at the upcoming Defense & Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition in London, UK.Scheduled for September 12-15, this event will serve as a platform to highlight Greensea IQ’s vision and its innovative product offerings.
