Trillium Engineering Unveils Gimbals with Laser Designation Features

Trillium Engineering Introduces Advanced Gimbals with Laser Designation Technology

Trillium Engineering, a prominent innovator in high-performance imaging systems for both manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, has enhanced three of its leading models—the HD95, HD80, and HD55—by integrating a STANAG Compliant 50mJ laser designator.

Enhancing Tactical operations

This new laser designation capability in their Group 2 and Group 3 sensor payloads allows Trillium to better cater to the requirements of tactical surveillance operators and missions that necessitate precise laser targeting.

“The introduction of laser designators in Trillium gimbals is revolutionizing operational capabilities for military personnel in the field,” stated Matt Carreon, Trillium’s Vice President of Buisness Advancement. “Our lightweight gimbals, achieving CAT-1 target accuracy, substantially enhance the effectiveness of Group 2 and 3 UAS in combat scenarios.”

overview of Trillium’s Gimbal Models

The flagship model, the 10-inch HD95 gimbal, boasts a 20x optical zoom MWIR camera, a 36x optical zoom EO camera, a SWIR See Spot Camera, a Laser Pointer, a laser Range Finder, and the newly added Laser Designator. Designed to fulfill the US Army’s FTUAS specifications, this gimbal extends the MWIR focal length from 375mm to 600mm while maintaining a lightweight profile of just 16 pounds, making it a top-tier option in its class.

next in line, the 8-inch HD80 is a compact yet powerful gimbal featuring a 15x optical zoom MWIR camera, a 30x optical zoom EO camera, a SWIR see Spot Camera, a Laser Pointer, a Laser Designator, and an optional Laser Range Finder. Weighing under 11 pounds, this model is perfect for Group 3 UAS that require high performance and extended operational endurance.

the 6.5-inch HD55 is Trillium’s most compact offering, equipped with a 3x optical zoom MWIR camera,an EO camera,a SWIR See Spot Camera,a Laser Pointer,a Laser Range Finder, and the STANAG compliant 50mJ Laser designator. At a mere 6.5 inches and weighing less than 6 pounds, the HD55 delivers capabilities typically reserved for larger Group 3 and 4 UAS payloads.

Advanced Features and Capabilities

All of Trillium’s gimbals are designed with user-friendly plug-and-play functionality, incorporating GPS/INS, sophisticated video processing, and direct drive motion control for unparalleled stability. Additionally, they can provide MISB compliant video in both h.264 and h.265 formats, achieving CAT-1 geolocation accuracy directly onboard the gimbal.
