CRP Technology Collaborates to Produce Drone Components for Unmanned Helicopter

Through collaboration with CRP Technology, FLYING-CAM has enhanced its production capabilities, focusing on additive manufacturing and Windform SLS materials for key components

CRP Technology Collaborates to Produce Drone Components for Unmanned Helicopter

FLYING-CAM has collaborated with CRP Technology to 3D print key drone components for the Special Aerial Response Automatic Helicopter (SARAH).

These parts, which include the airframe structure, air guide cooling system, tail unit, and main battery connection, were produced using advanced Windform composite materials.

In partnership with CRP Technology, FLYING-CAM transitioned to SLS technology to accelerate the iteration process, enhance manufacturing speed, and facilitate mass production. This collaboration also enables easier customization of the platform.

The project requirements emphasized a rapid iteration process, an optimal balance between structural strength and weight, consistent results, and the ability to integrate multiple functionalities into a single part.

CRP Technology reportedly provided quick responsiveness to evolving requirements, excellent collaboration with FLYING-CAM engineers and CAD designers, and superior output quality through their unique proprietary processes.

SARAH: An Advanced UAS

The Flying-Cam 3.0 SARAH is an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) unmanned aerial system (UAS) with a total weight of 25 kg and a flight time of 30 minutes while carrying a 5 kg payload.

The SARAH system combines efficient aerodynamics, innovative flight modes, and modular interchangeable payloads, all packaged in a portable and easily deployable unit. It delivers precise aerial 3D imagery with centimeter-level accuracy.

Production of SARAH has commenced, with the Spanish Aerospace Research Centre FADA-CATEC receiving its first systems.

The systems are being used in air traffic management, general aviation research, and technology development projects in collaboration with partners like BOEING, EADS, and AIRBUS MILITARY.

SARAH is easy to operate, features maintenance-free propulsion, and is equipped with FLYING-CAM’s proprietary Automatic Pilot System, offering enhanced real-time image quality both day and night.

SARAH outperforms heavier, more expensive systems while benefiting from less stringent regulations due to its 25 kg category, which also helps lower operating costs. Its applications include emergency management, surveillance, defense, broadcast television, and motion picture production.

FLYING-CAM is building on the success of its award-winning Flying-Cam II with the Flying-Cam 3.0 SARAH.

“We moved to SLS technology in collaboration with CRP Technology in order to accelerate iteration generation, improve manufacturing time, facilitate production in series and an easier customization of our platform.” – FLYING-CAM team.
