Amprius Technologies has appointed Tom Stepien as its new President, tasked with managing the company’s daily operations, driving commercial growth, and expanding its market presence to satisfy the rising demand for cutting-edge silicon battery technology.

Effective May 1, 2025, Stepien will also join the Company’s Board of Directors.
With over 35 years of experience in leadership roles within customer-centric, innovation-led technology firms, Stepien is well-equipped for his new position. His most recent role was as CEO of South 8 Technologies, were he spearheaded the commercialization of a groundbreaking liquefied gas electrolyte for lithium-ion batteries.
Prior to this, he co-founded and led Primus Power, a company specializing in long-duration stationary energy storage, and served as an Operating Partner at KCK Group, a private equity firm focused on industrial technologies. Earlier in his career, he held meaningful positions at Applied Materials, a leader in semiconductor equipment.
Stepien’s arrival at Amprius comes at a crucial time as the company increases production to meet the surging demand for its high-performance silicon batteries,which provide enhanced energy density for electric aviation,defense,and electric mobility applications.He will play a vital role in fostering strategic partnerships, enhancing customer relations, and exploring new growth avenues in impactful markets.

Stepien holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from MIT and is a co-inventor on 11 U.S. and international battery patents. Additionally, he serves on the board of Euro Manganese (TSX-V and ASX: EMN), a supplier of battery materials for the electric vehicle market.
