Teledyne RDI Launches Innovative Workhorse Proteus for AUVs
Teledyne RD Instruments (RDI) has unveiled the Workhorse Proteus, the newest iteration of its renowned Workhorse Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs).
This cutting-edge device is designed to work seamlessly with autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), enabling the collection of vital data on currents and wave patterns, as well as flow, transport, and discharge metrics in various aquatic environments, including oceans, rivers, and estuaries.
Advanced Capabilities for Enhanced Data Collection
The Workhorse Proteus is equipped with the capability to sample data across multiple spatial and temporal dimensions simultaneously, providing deeper insights into underwater turbulence, wave dynamics, and shifting currents.
According to reports, the Proteus is engineered to maximize data output from a single unit. Its standout features encompass:
- Proteus Advanced Doppler Sonar Platform (ADSP) for superior Doppler processing
- Catalyst Processor for rapid data processing
- Newly integrated attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) along with dynamic bin mapping
- User-friendly planning software
- Five beams for precise measurement of vertical ocean velocity
- Diverse deployment options for various applications
- Reliable broadband techniques for consistent results
- Multiple communication interfaces for flexibility
