Revolutionizing medical logistics: Gadfin and SAREL’s Groundbreaking Partnership
Gadfin Aero-Logistics Systems has entered into a significant long-term exclusive collaboration with SAREL, the largest medical Group Purchasing Institution (GPO) and logistics provider in Israel. This partnership aims to establish a drone delivery network that will link major hospitals across Israel within a 200-kilometer range.
Setting a New Standard in Medical Delivery
With this agreement, Gadfin positions Israel as the first Western nation to implement an automated, on-demand aerial grid for medical deliveries. This innovative system is set to transform how medical supplies are transported, ensuring timely access to essential resources.
The World’s Longest Drone Delivery Line
The inaugural delivery route is anticipated to be the longest of its kind globally, extending up to a 100-kilometer radius. This will enable SAREL to maintain a continuous supply of critical medical items, including equipment, medications, vaccines, blood products, serum, and laboratory samples.
Advanced Technology for Enhanced Delivery
This initiative leverages gadfin’s proprietary technology, which allows for flights covering distances of up to 250 kilometers (125 kilometers without battery swaps or hydrogen tank changes). This capability is made possible through the use of hydrogen fuel cell technology, a unique wing folding mechanism, and cutting-edge safety features designed to comply with stringent regulatory standards.
Projected Impact and Delivery Capacity
Gadfin anticipates that within three years, the project will facilitate up to 60 deliveries daily, totaling approximately 21,000 deliveries annually, utilizing 18 Gadfin Spirit One Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
Specifications of the Spirit One UAV
The Spirit One UAV is engineered to transport standard medical supply packages that require cooling, capable of maintaining temperatures as low as -80°C, which is essential for organ transport. It is designed to operate in adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain and winds of up to 30 km/h. Additionally, the UAV is equipped with an independent automatic parachute system for emergency situations.
Statements from Leadership
Avi Buskila, CEO of SAREL, remarked, “This collaboration with Gadfin, leveraging its innovative technology, aligns with SAREL’s commitment to innovation. It positions us as the first medical logistics provider globally to offer immediate, on-demand access to lifesaving equipment and supplies, irrespective of traffic conditions, while minimizing inventory and waste from expired medical products.”
Eyal Regev,CEO of Gadfin, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating,“Today marks a pivotal moment for the drone delivery sector,Israel’s healthcare system, and SAREL. SAREL made an excellent decision in choosing Gadfin as their air logistics partner. Our systems empower SAREL to transport a diverse range of medical supplies with precise, real-time temperature control across a vast area of Israel, up to a 250-kilometer radius from a central hub. This achievement highlights the extraordinary work of Gadfin’s skilled engineering team in developing a robust air delivery system that operates seamlessly, day and night, in all weather conditions.”
