Unlocking Precision: The Power of Sparrowhawk Radar

introducing the Sparrowhawk: A Revolutionary Ground-Based Radar Solution

The Sparrowhawk represents a state-of-the-art ground radar technology that enhances detect-and-avoid (DAA) functionalities for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone operations. Utilizing complex computer vision methodologies alongside Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B), this system delivers a comprehensive view of the airspace, significantly improving situational awareness. With a remarkable operational range of up to 1,400 square kilometers from a single unit, it sets a new standard in drone safety.

Compact and Cost-effective Design

This portable radar system is engineered for installation in mid-sized vehicles, effectively addressing the challenges of size, weight, and the high expenses typically associated with conventional ground-based radar systems. The complete setup includes radar hardware,a Software-defined Radio (SDR) dongle,an ADS-B antenna, and sophisticated airspace management software. Additionally, sparrowhawk features a user-friendly API, enabling seamless integration of its data outputs into your existing ground control stations or Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) systems, as well as compatibility with various third-party applications like Anra, Unifly, and DroneSense.

Comprehensive Detection Capabilities

Sparrowhawk offers extensive 360-degree surveillance capabilities, operational both day and night, and under diverse weather conditions. It is adept at identifying a wide range of aerial obstacles and potential hazards, including:

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
  • Manned aircraft and helicopters
  • Birds
  • Adverse weather conditions (such as snow, rain, fog, and smoke)
  • Ground interference

Targeted Tracking for Enhanced Safety

Currently, the system is optimized to monitor larger drones, specifically those weighing around 25 kg and above, while also offering intermittent tracking capabilities for smaller drones. This feature ensures that operators can maintain a high level of safety and awareness in increasingly crowded airspaces.
