The Alpha vessel-based control system (VCS) uses dual-antenna GNSS with RTK positioning and a high-gain gyrostabilized tracking antenna to provide reliable long-range encrypted communications between UAVs and their motherships. The system calculates optimal aiming angles based on ship and aircraft positions, and can even maintain accuracy of up to 20′ during GNSS outages.
The system features redundant datalinks and a backup radio for maximum reliability, and multiple datalink options are available providing ranges of up to 50 km. Radome antenna configurations are available to provide enhanced robustness in challenging maritime environments.
The all-in-one system includes two rugged laptops for UAV and payload control, as well as an IP67-rated rugged handheld joystick that enables communication via Ethernet at distances of up to 40 metres from the control room.
