Introducing the Discovery Camera: A Cutting-Edge Underwater Imaging Solution
The Discovery Camera is a state-of-the-art compact system designed for underwater exploration, offering low-latency piloting and advanced 3D inspection capabilities for remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). It captures stunning 4K video with real-time image enhancements, while also taking high-resolution still images that are ideal for photogrammetry applications.
Equipped with integrated edge computing, this camera performs essential onboard processing tasks such as image undistortion, lighting adjustments, and color correction. It is indeed compatible with DDS data distribution and ROS2, facilitating seamless integration for autonomous operations.
Featuring a fixed-focus lens that provides a generous 130° x 130° field of view, the Discovery Camera is complemented by built-in Nova Mini Lights that emit an impressive 125,000 lumens, ensuring excellent visibility even in the most challenging underwater conditions.
With latency reduced to as little as 95 milliseconds at 1080p over Gigabit Ethernet, the camera allows for agile vehicle piloting. It supports various output formats, including raw 12-bit TIFF images, processed JPGs, H.264 video, and IMU data, making it versatile for both real-time operations and post-mission evaluations.
