AI-Powered Video Analytics Solutions for UAVs

Sense Aeronautics' technology is designed to elevate the autonomy capabilities of commercial drones to levels that were previously thought to be impossible

Sense Aeronautics, an innovative developer of AI-powered video analytics solutions for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), is backed by Spanish R&D firm and leading computing specialist Gradiant and is a valued supplier partner on Unmanned Systems Technology.

As a supplier partner, UST is proud to spotlight Sense Aeronautics’ unique solutions and capabilities via the company’s supplier profile, which showcases their drone video analytics solutions, focused on the automated real-time analysis of video feeds and customizable to the unique requirements of each client.

Read on to find out more:

The Sense Aeronautics Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) solution automatically detects and classifies targets of interest in EO video streams, delivering results that are faster, more cost-effective and less error-prone than human operators. The system is highly scalable and can handle any number of video streams, making it ideal for drone fleet and swarm applications.

The ATR software can detect a variety of different target types, including people, vehicles, and other drones, and is ideal for facilities and infrastructure monitoring, border control, search and rescue, and more. The cloud-based version of this product is currently ready for testing.

The FOD Detection solution equips COTS drones with the ability to perform automatic detection and classification of unexpected objects and debris, as well as change detection on roads and runways. The system utilizes calibration flights prior to deployment to ensure optimal performance, as well as automatic recalibration after each flight to keep up to date.

All detections are geo-localized for easy review and confirmation, and false alarms are automatically filtered. The AI-powered software can be deployed on board the drone, on the ground control station, or on a remote cloud server.

The detect-and-avoid (DAA) solution uses onboard EO cameras to automatically detect both collaborative and non-collaborative aircraft in the vicinity of the drone, providing real-time alerts that can be used to facilitate collision avoidance. The system provides a range of logging options, including basic telemetry and health, alarms and tracking information, and visual data. Typical detection ranges are 500 metres for a Matrice 600 drone and over 3km for a Cessna Skylane aircraft.

The system is designed for deployment on board the UAV, on the ground control station, or on a remote cloud server. The cloud version is now ready for testing.
