kongsberg Geospatial has officially transferred its Integrated Simulation (I-SIM) software suite to ATAC.
The I-SIM platform, a well-established radar-based Air Traffic Control (ATC) simulation tool, has been instrumental in training for airspace management adn operational assessments for over twenty years.
Originally developed for the FAA Civil aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) in 1998, I-SIM has been a trusted resource for the FAA, facilitating Human-In-The-Loop (HITL) ATC simulations.this allows air traffic controllers to experiment with new procedures and engage in realistic training across diverse operational scenarios. With I-SIM,ATC professionals acquire the practical,real-world experience essential for navigating today’s intricate airspace challenges.
This acquisition will merge Kongsberg Geospatial’s cutting-edge simulation technologies with ATAC’s extensive 45-year history in air traffic simulation and analysis. This collaboration is set to enhance I-SIM’s capabilities for the FAA, NASA, the U.S.Navy, and various academic training programs. Such a partnership aims to maintain I-SIM as the leading radar-based ATC simulation platform, aligning with ATAC’s mission to provide superior aviation modeling, simulation, and airspace training solutions that address critical industry demands.
Jordan Freed, President of Kongsberg Geospatial, remarked, “Our focus has always been on creating dependable, high-performance simulation and visualization tools that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our users.”
“This acquisition ensures that I-SIM will continue its legacy as a vital ATC training and simulation resource, benefiting from ATAC’s vast experience and dedication to the aviation sector.”
following this acquisition, Kongsberg Geospatial will maintain its commitment to delivering essential situational awareness solutions for defense, aerospace, and unmanned systems. The company’s offerings, including the TerraLens SDK, support a variety of high-performance systems utilized in defense and commercial sectors globally.
