Cambridge Pixel Unveils Exciting New Features for Counter-UAS Radar Solutions!

Cambridge Pixel has delivered a multi-console radar control and display system for Weibel Scientific’s XENTA radar, enhancing its air defense and counter-UAS capabilities

Cambridge Pixel Enhances Counter-UAS Radar Capabilities

Cambridge Pixel Revolutionizes Radar Control for Weibel Scientific

Cambridge Pixel has successfully implemented an advanced radar control and visualization system for Weibel Scientific’s XENTA surveillance radar.

Overview of the XENTA Radar System

The XENTA radar represents a cutting-edge 3D surveillance solution featuring continuous target illumination and synthetic receiver beamforming technology. The XENTA-M variant is designed for short-range air defense, while the XENTA-C variant specializes in counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS).

Custom Software Development

Cambridge Pixel was commissioned to create a multi-console software platform tailored for the XENTA radar. This complete system integrates complex radar display functionalities, including mapping, recording, radar control operations, track management, and prioritization, along with track filtering to ensure seamless compatibility with third-party command-and-control (C2) systems.

Innovative enhancements

The solution leverages cambridge Pixel’s extensive radar processing software library. A custom radar controller was developed specifically to meet the unique demands of the XENTA radar.Furthermore, enhancements were made to existing features, such as upgraded MIL-STD-2525 overlay graphics and support for dual-redundant operator consoles, all integrated into Cambridge Pixel’s modular product line to guarantee reliability and scalability.

Showcasing Technological Versatility

This project highlighted the adaptability of Cambridge Pixel’s technology, which included the Air Situation Display (ASD-100), SPx Track Manager for track filtering and format conversion, Threat Processor software for prioritization, and RDR Data Recorder. System monitoring and resilience were ensured through SPx Monitor, providing robustness across all operational scenarios.

Why Weibel Chose Cambridge Pixel

Weibel Scientific, based in Denmark, selected Cambridge Pixel due to its technical proficiency, swift development capabilities, and ability to adapt to complex project requirements.

Expert Insights

Henrik Olsson,Product Line Director at Weibel, remarked,“The end-user required a mature radar control software that demanded minimal modifications while meeting all operational and display needs of the XENTA radar. Cambridge Pixel provided the software and expertise we sought, along with the flexibility and responsiveness necessary for a successful project outcome.”

Richard Warren, software director at Cambridge Pixel, added, “We take pride in our contribution to this project. By utilizing our adaptable software modules, we enhanced existing functionalities and delivered a customized solution that meets the stringent requirements of air defense and counter-UAS applications. This initiative underscores our dedication to advancing radar technology.”
