Collaborative Effort to Create Safe Autonomous Unmanned Aircraft

Kongsberg Geospatial has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Pegasus Imagery Ltd.

Kongsberg Geospatial adn Pegasus Imagery Forge Strategic Alliance for Autonomous Flight Safety

Kongsberg Geospatial has entered into a collaborative agreement wiht Pegasus Imagery Ltd. aimed at enhancing the safety of autonomous Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).

As part of this partnership, Pegasus will incorporate Kongsberg Geospatial’s IRIS UxS airspace situational awareness platform into their beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) operations, specifically within their PV-02 Eos autonomous aircraft framework.

Enhancing BVLOS Operations with advanced Technology

The IRIS system allows a single remote operator to oversee multiple drones and sensor inputs simultaneously, facilitating real-time calculations for aircraft separation and communication, which are crucial for BVLOS operations.

Developed using Kongsberg Geospatial’s TerraLens Software Development Kit (SDK), IRIS offers elegant 2D and 3D visualizations of airborne tracks and meteorological data, along with alerts and notifications that empower operators to navigate complex airspace scenarios effectively.

Industry Leaders Collaborate for Innovation

“We are excited to collaborate with a pioneering company like Pegasus,” stated Ranald mcgillis, President of Kongsberg Geospatial. “our teams have worked diligently to integrate our technology with their PV-02 Eos platform.”

The Pegasus PV-02 Eos autonomous aircraft is equipped with advanced Detect-and-avoid (DAA) sensor systems, enabling it to operate safely in airspace shared with both manned and unmanned aircraft. This capability allows for the collection and delivery of scalable, on-demand data solutions for various missions, including infrastructure assessments of power lines and monitoring of wildfires.

Commitment to Safety and Situational Awareness

“Kongsberg has a long-standing reputation for providing mission-ready solutions like IRIS UxS, which enhance airspace management in challenging conditions,” remarked cole Rosentreter, CEO of Pegasus Imagery.

“By integrating these advanced capabilities with our aircraft and onboard DAA systems, we will considerably improve safety and situational awareness, which are vital for routine operations in integrated airspace.”
