DeltaQuad and VDL Groep Collaborate to Enhance VTOL Drone Production

DeltaQuad has partnered with VDL Groep to significantly increase the production capabilities of the DeltaQuad Evo surveillance drone.

Overview of the deltaquad Evo

The DeltaQuad Evo is a state-of-the-art surveillance drone that has demonstrated its effectiveness in operational settings, notably in Ukraine, earning global recognition for its performance.

This drone features electric propulsion and autonomous navigation, boasting a wingspan of nearly three meters. It is designed for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL), with the ability to fly for up to eight hours and cover distances reaching 500 kilometers in a single mission. Its modular architecture allows for the integration of various sensors, including high-resolution cameras suitable for both daytime and nighttime surveillance.

Production Expansion and Strategic Importance

This partnership allows DeltaQuad to enhance its production flexibility, a crucial factor in addressing the increasing demand from both domestic and international defence entities. This initiative aligns with the Dutch government’s initiative to bolster local manufacturing capabilities within the defense sector.

The new production lines will be established at VDL’s facility in Born, Limburg, which is equipped with cutting-edge assembly technology and is adaptable for the production of intricate electromechanical systems. This flexibility enables VDL to implement design modifications swiftly, ensuring that the Evo drone remains responsive to the evolving tactical landscape and emerging threats.

Leadership Insights

Sander Smeets, CEO of DeltaQuad, stated, “this collaboration represents a notable advancement in our collective mission to make high-quality defense technology more accessible. By utilizing VDL’s expertise and resources, we can more swiftly meet the growing demands of defense organizations.”

Shared Goals for the Future

This collaboration underscores the mutual objectives of both companies to enhance and innovate within the Dutch defense industry, in accordance with the directives of the Dutch government.
