alpine Eagle has pioneered Sentinel, an innovative counter-UAS (unmanned aerial system) solution that employs a fleet of swarming UAVs alongside active radar sensors to address the shortcomings of traditional ground-based systems.
This ITAR-free system has been successfully tested and deployed by the Bundeswehr, a member of NATO, ensuring reliable persistent surveillance for both mobile and stationary operations, even in contested environments where GNSS signals are unavailable.
The Advantages of Sentinel Airborne Technology
conventional ground-based counter-UAS systems often struggle against low-flying threats that utilize urban, mountainous, or forested landscapes for concealment. Additionally, these systems can be easily overwhelmed by swarm tactics and electronic warfare (EW).
Sentinel addresses these challenges by deploying multiple UAVs equipped with active radar sensors and optional electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) cameras. This setup ensures clear line-of-sight and dependable detection and classification of Group 1 & 2 UAS, loitering munitions, and ground targets at distances of up to 4 km. This capability allows for early threat detection and interception from a safe distance. The data collected can be integrated with various kinetic and non-kinetic effectors for complete neutralization strategies.
By deploying multiple Sentinels in a coordinated swarm, a 360-degree detection perimeter can be established. Each Sentinel monitors its designated area, while the entire swarm provides complete coverage. Sentinel can seamlessly integrate with existing command and control (C2) systems for efficient mission execution.
thanks to its robust architecture, Sentinel operates effectively even in environments where GNSS and interaction signals are compromised.

Advanced Radar Detection and AI Processing
Each Sentinel UAV is outfitted with active radar, delivering precise real-time tracking and actionable intelligence. The onboard edge AI processing correlates sensor data across the swarm, facilitating accurate target identification while considerably minimizing bandwidth usage.Airborne and ground targets can be effectively differentiated from background noise, reducing false alarms caused by structures and environmental clutter.
The system can track multiple threats concurrently in complex environments, with target limits influenced by spacing, radar cross-section,and kinematic distinguishability within the field of view.configurable thresholds ensure operational efficiency and prevent overload in high-density threat scenarios.
Sentinel’s AI, processed on the UAV itself, dynamically adapts to environmental changes, prioritizing high-confidence tracks and reallocating sensor resources to maintain surveillance integrity. it can analyse target trajectories to predict unfriendly intentions and determine effective interception points.
