The Discovery Camera is a compact underwater vision system designed for low-latency piloting and 3D inspection tasks on ROVs. It delivers 4K video with real-time image enhancement while simultaneously capturing high-resolution stills suitable for direct use in photogrammetry.
Integrated edge computing handles onboard processing, including image undistortion, lighting correction, and color balancing. The camera supports DDS data distribution and ROS2, streamlining integration for autonomy applications.
With a fixed-focus lens providing a 130° x 130° field of view and built-in Nova Mini Lights outputting 125,000 lumens, the Discovery Camera ensures wide coverage and visibility in challenging underwater environments.
Latency is reduced to as low as 95 ms at 1080p on Gigabit Ethernet, enabling responsive vehicle piloting. Output formats include raw 12-bit TIFF images, processed JPGs, H.264 video, and IMU data, making the platform suitable for both live operation and post-mission analysis.
