Introducing the Boxfish ROV: A Cutting-Edge Underwater Exploration Tool
The Boxfish ROV represents a state-of-the-art remote-operated vehicle system, providing stunning, uncompressed 4K video with minimal latency. weighing only 23 kg, it can be swiftly deployed by a two-person team in just a few minutes, reaching depths of up to 500 meters as standard, with options available for deeper explorations of 1000 meters and beyond.
extraordinary Maneuverability
Equipped with eight 3D-vectored thrusters, the Boxfish ROV boasts six degrees of freedom, enabling it to navigate and orient itself in any direction. This capability allows it to operate effectively in confined spaces and withstand strong underwater currents.
Advanced Imaging Technology
The ROV features a primary uncompressed 4K underwater camera, complemented by two ultra-wide-angle navigation cameras, providing unparalleled surround visibility and enhanced situational awareness.Additionally, two powerful 8,500-lumen lights ensure excellent illumination, enabling image capture even in complete darkness.
User-Friendly Control Station
the control station is equipped with a 17-inch 4K monitor for high-definition image and video viewing, alongside a 10-inch display that showcases footage from the ultra-wide-angle cameras, ensuring operators have a comprehensive view of their surroundings.
Extended Operational Time and Reliability
The Boxfish ROV can function for up to 14 hours on a single charge, and its sealed swift-access ports facilitate easy recharging in the field. In the event of unforeseen challenges, its fault-tolerant design allows continued operation even if several thrusters become fouled. Should communication be interrupted, the ROV is programmed to autonomously return to the surface.
Precision Underwater Photogrammetry
Designed for high-resolution 3D underwater photogrammetry, the Boxfish ROV utilizes an uncompressed 4K video stream and an actively stabilized platform. this allows for the rapid and efficient capture of underwater assets from multiple angles, ensuring optimal lighting for the creation of accurate models. The result is high-resolution images that yield top-quality 3D photogrammetry outputs.
Enhanced Navigation with USBL Positioning
The Boxfish ROV can be upgraded with an optional navigation package that includes a USBL (ultrasonic short baseline) positioning system for precise tracking and control. A USBL transponder is either mounted or suspended from the mother vessel, communicating wirelessly with a beacon on the ROV using high-frequency sound waves.
For real-time positioning,a GPS module can be integrated with the USBL system on the vessel. The positioning software merges data from both the USBL transponder and the GPS module, allowing for the accurate display of the ROV’s global position on the Boxfish Control Station or a separate laptop.
