Revolutionizing Video Streaming: DTC’s Vidar Solution

Domo Tactical Communications (DTC) has unveiled Vidar, a cutting-edge two-channel video compression technology designed for real-time, high-definition video streaming, even in challenging and bandwidth-restricted environments.

Uninterrupted Video Transmission in Adverse Conditions

vidar is engineered to ensure consistent video delivery, even amidst unstable or congested networks. This capability results in minimal latency and remarkable video quality, making it a prime choice for critical mission applications.

Expert Insights on Vidar’s Capabilities

Jacob randbaek, the Business Unit Director for Law Enforcement at DTC,stated,“Vidar is set to become a formidable player in the compact,low-bandwidth video streaming sector. Its smaller size compared to competitors, along with the ability to connect with external modems and RF radios, enhances its resilience. This adaptability boosts maneuverability, simplifies integration, and reduces Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) requirements. Vidar operates independently of servers, allowing it to function autonomously during missions. It can stream directly to smartphones, monitoring stations, or preferred video management systems, thereby enhancing mission effectiveness instantly.”

Optimized for Space-Constrained Deployments

with an ultra-low SWaP profile, Vidar is particularly advantageous for drone-mounted systems and other applications where space is limited. It facilitates continuous streaming from remote areas with poor cellular connectivity and operates efficiently within private IP networks. The integrated motion detection feature allows users to specify areas of interest and capture high-resolution still images. Moreover, a customizable pre- and post-event recording function ensures that critical moments are documented, with automatic image transfers to secure FTP/SFTP servers for subsequent analysis.

seamless Integration with Existing Infrastructure

Vidar is compatible with standard IP and USB cameras, enabling organizations to utilize their current camera setups for a cost-effective and sustainable deployment. It can leverage public 4G and 5G networks with ultra-low data rates, ensuring continuous situational awareness while optimizing video storage in high-quality or cloud-based environments.

Enhanced Streaming Protocol Support

Supporting RTSP and WebRTC streaming protocols,Vidar allows for smooth integration with existing platforms, whether for centralized video management systems or mobile video playback. Its ability to deliver high-quality, real-time video in demanding environments positions it as an essential asset for defence, security, and critical infrastructure applications.
